Our clinic, which serves thousands of Calgary’s most vulnerable newcomers, will continue to be opened thanks to public support and other sources of funding.

For over twenty years the Calgary Refugee Clinic has been the cornerstone in providing comprehensive healthcare to refugees upon arrival to Canada.

The clinic has over 2500 active patients with a constant stream of new arrivals. Last year alone the clinic provided 25,972 medical and allied health appointments.

The Mosaic Primary Care Network provided operational funding for our program from 2013 until March 31, 2025.

Now that the clinic has secured partial funding, we will be able to provide healthcare to vulnerable newcomers. We continue to look for other funding partners to rebuild our interdisciplinary program. By providing this invaluable service we strive to reduce the strain on our health care system, in particular our emergency departments and acute care services.

Refugees often arrive with a myriad of health issues, including neglected chronic diseases, infectious diseases, disabilities and mental health issues. They require timely access to health care, with language support, in order to successfully resettle in Calgary.

Following the management of immediate health needs and a period of stabilization, patients are transitioned from the clinic to a new medical home.
